WAYNE, Neb. —Providence Medical Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Jorge Sotolongo, MD, FACOG, to its Outpatient Gynecology Clinic. He will see patients on the first and third Monday of each month, offering outpatient gynecology appointments, surgeries, and procedures. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he is committed to making quality women’s healthcare accessible and ensuring patients feel comfortable, informed, and supported throughout their care.
Dr. Jorge F. Sotolongo is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with more than 35 years of experience providing comprehensive women’s healthcare. Proudly serving patients throughout Nebraska and Iowa, he is dedicated to delivering compassionate, personalized, and evidence-based care for women at every stage of life.
Originally from Havana, Cuba, Dr. Sotolongo earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Medicine, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez before receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He completed both his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at San Juan Municipal Hospital.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sotolongo has remained deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of women. His clinical interests include preventive gynecology, high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, menopause management, infertility evaluation, and the diagnosis and treatment of complex gynecologic conditions.
Known for his calm bedside manner and dedication to his patients, Dr. Sotolongo believes every woman deserves individualized care, clear communication, and a physician who truly listens. He strives to build lasting relationships with his patients, providing trusted guidance from adolescence and pregnancy through menopause and beyond.
Dr. Sotolongo has held leadership positions, including serving as Department Chief of Obstetrics and Pediatrics, and has maintained hospital privileges at multiple healthcare facilities across Nebraska and Iowa. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and has been board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1992.
A strong advocate for innovation in women’s healthcare, Dr. Sotolongo has completed advanced training in laparoscopic and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, presented at national and international medical conferences, and contributed to peer-reviewed publications in gynecologic surgery.
