Mother and Baby Care is a model of care that is focused on offering the highest quality of care for mothers and their newborns during the hospital and postpartum experience.

 

When you deliver Providence Medical Center you will receive extraordinary care, close to home from highly trained and experienced physicians and nurses. Our goal is to provide you the special experience you deserve as you begin your journey with a new addition to your family.

 

We also provide access to a private motherhood support group led by an RN and certified lactation counselor. Visit our group by clicking the group icon below. 

 

Maternity Services We Offer

Comprehensive Prenatal Care

  • 3D Ultrasound: We have a 3D ultrasound which shows a detailed picture of your baby. A photo will also be sent home with you.
  • Childbirth Classes: We offer childbirth classes that teach you about what happens during labor and delivery, and how to care for your new baby.
  • Interpreters: We have interpreters so we can talk with you in the language you prefer.

Personalized Delivery Experience

  • Birthing Suites: We have delivery suites where you labor, deliver, and stay with your baby until you go home.
  • Doula or Support Person: You can have your doula and/or support person with you during labor and delivery.
  • Skin to Skin Time: We encourage skin to skin time. The first hours of snuggling skin to skin allow you and your baby to get to know each other. Secured Nursery: We offer a safe and secure nursery for your baby.
  • C-Section: We have a surgical team available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you need a C-section.

Effective Pain Control Options

  • Epidural or IV Pain Medication: We have providers available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for epidurals or IV pain medication.
  • Other Options to Ease Pain During Labor:
    • Birthing Ball
    • Birthing Bar
    • Controlled Breathing
    • Walk-In Whirlpool Tub
    • Labor Positioning

Individualized Care For Your Baby

  • Feeding Your Baby: If you choose to breastfeed, we have certified lactation counselors available to help you with any questions or concerns you have about breastfeeding. If you choose not to breastfeed, formula is provided for your baby during your hospital stay.
  • Newborn Screening: A set of blood tests and a hearing test are performed on your baby before they go home.
  • Safe Sleep Certified: We are safe sleep certified. We will teach you the safest way to lay your baby down to sleep.
  • Cry Plan: Crying is normal for babies. Our staff is trained to help you make a plan around what to do at home and when your baby is crying.

Care After You Go Home

  • Home Nurse Visit: If you choose, a home health nurse can make a visit to your home. This visit is free.
  • Breastfeeding: You can call to set up a time to visit with one of our Certified Lactation Counselors with any questions or concerns. You can also attend the Honeysuckle breastfeeding support group hosted at our hospital. For more information, call 402-375-7940.
  • Ongoing Healthcare: If you choose, the doctor that delivers your baby will care for you and your family’s ongoing healthcare needs.
