Skilled Care
Providence Medical Center provides skilled care services to our patients who qualify for this level of care. This services includes but is not limited to:
Rehabilitation following a surgical procedure
Wound care
IV Therapy
Ostomy Care
The Social Service Department will visit each individual upon admission into Skilled Care to assess his/her goals or concerns and assist with the appropriate discharge plans.
A weekly care conference is held with our multidisciplinary team to discuss the patient’s goals and progress and to address possible needs prior to discharge. The patient and family involvement is crucial in making safe and appropriate plans for discharge. Skilled care patients are encouraged to reestablish their prior level of functioning with the goal of returning to their home or other care facility.
If skilled care is no longer needed but you choose to continue your stay, an option of private pay is available. This service is an option when your insurance will no longer approve your hospitalization. If you choose this level of care, the patient will then assume financial responsibility for the stay. Activities are provided to our skilled patient’s during their stay. An array of activities are available including books, magazines, games, wireless internet with laptop availability, electronic games including the Wii, crafts and group activities.
